Mexican Navy Attacks Community and Disappears Two Persons

Mexico City, October 8 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Mexican marines raided a small community in the northern state of Durango and opened fire at homes for no known reason, while two young males were forcibly disappeared, neighbors told Sinaloan newspaper RioDoce.

“The troops of the Ministry of the Navy arrived in the community of El Verano and began firing at houses,” the witness said, according to RioDoce.

The newspaper said El Verano inhabitant told them that about 15 families live in the community that is still “besieged” by marines.

The unidentified person that spoke with RioDoce said they were unaware if there were any victims, but they saw a funeral home hearse driving through the small community.

The persons forcibly disappeared were identified as Jesus Felix and his cousin Octavio Almodovar.

RioDoce said there were unconfirmed reports that a naval helicopter had been gunned down near El Verano.

Silvas said people have denounced that marines raid their homes without search warrants and that “the take with them everything they find.”
