Baghdad, October 20 (RHC)-- Police and medical officials in Iraq say at least four people have been killed and nearly two dozen others injured in separate bomb explosions that struck areas in and around the capital, Baghdad.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a civilian lost his life and seven others sustained injuries on Monday evening when an improvised explosive device went off close to a popular market in Baghdad’s southwestern neighborhood of Hayy al-A’amel, the Arabic-language al-Baghdadia satellite television network reported.

Earlier in the day, a bomb blast ripped through a commercial district in al-Ghazaliya neighborhood of western Baghdad, killing two people and injuring nine others.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the site of the attack, and ambulance workers ferried the wounded to a nearby hospital.

Also on Monday, a bomb explosion at a market in the town of Saab al-Bour, located approximately 29 kilometers (18 miles) northwest of the capital, left one person dead and six others wounded.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the acts of violence. However, Iraqi officials usually blame such attacks on the Takfiri Daesh terrorists.
