Caracas, May 6 (RHC-Granma)-— The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples’ Trade Treaty (Alba-TCP) has condemned Washington's renewal of the “Venezuela Defense of Human Rights and Civil Society Act” of 2014, by means of which the United States has extended sanctions imposed on the Bolivarian nation until 2019.

In a statement released on Thursday, ALBA member states define as unilateral and extraterritorial the U.S. sanctions against the Bolivarian people and government of Venezuela.

ALBA recognizes the Act as the legal framework that aims to sustain the illegal Executive Order issued by President Barack Obama, which considers Venezuela an unusual and extraordinary threat to U.S. security and foreign policy.

And the statement concluded: “ALBA countries condemn these measures, which violate public international law, go against the principles of non-interference in internal affairs and the sovereign equality of states and their self-determination, and aim to defeat the historic course of freedom and independence of our nations.”

I am from Vancouver,Canada and I wanted to say that ALBA is doing a good job in exposing the reactionary sanctions against Venezuela. These sanctions against Venezuela needs to be condemned by all gov'ts in the world. It is the U.S.Gov't that is in the wrong not the Venezuela Gov't.The Venezuelan Gov't needs to be supported for the good work it has been doing since Hugo Chavez became President over a decade ago.No other President Of Venezuela in recent history has helped the people in Venezuela and the rest of Latin America and the Caribbean like Hugo Chavez and President Maduro. The Bolivarian Revolution needs to continue and President Maduro needs to stay as President so that can happen.
