Havana, November 28 (RHC)-- Havana residents began paying tribute to Revolution leader Fidel Castro at exactly 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the José Martí Memorial in Revolution Square, where the former leader often spoke to huge crowds.

Since the early morning hours, hundreds of thousands of Cubans began to arrive to the iconic square, where they formed long lines to pay their last respects to their historic, eternal leader.

The Memorial is open until 10 p.m. local time tonight.  Tomorrow, Tuesday, the Memorial is open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, for people to file past a large photo of Fidel in the Sierra Maestra.   A mass rally is scheduled for the Plaza de la Revolucion Tuesday night at 7 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,060 places have been made available across the island for Cubans to pay homage to Fidel and sign the solemn oath pledging to honor his legacy, specifically Fidel's concept of Revolution.
