Havana, June 1 (RHC)-- The Cuban National Assembly has announced the holding of an extraordinary meeting this weekend.  The session is scheduled to start on Saturday and will go on until Monday.

On the meeting’s agenda will be approval of the make-up of the Assembly’s permanent committees and parliamentary friendship groups.  Lawmakers during this extraordinary session will also discuss and approve a timetable for reforms to be introduced in the Cuban constitution, for which a special commission is to be set up, entrusted with putting together and presenting for approval a draft of the Constitution for the Republic of Cuba.

The deputies of the Cuban National Assembly will hold a plenary meeting on Sunday, during which they will be briefed on the inner workings of the legislative procedure, the powers and functions of the National Assembly and the Council of State and those of the permanent working committees.

On Monday, the newly elected working committees will review the work done during the previous legislature and set goals for the 2018-2023 period.
