Secretary General of Association of Caribbean States Special Invitee to Caribbean Business Fair

Port of Spain, June 26 (RHC-Minrex)-- Dr. June Soomer, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), will visit Cuba as a special invitee to the Cuba-Caribbean Business Fair, taking place 28 and 29 July in Santiago de Cuba.

The event will provide Caribbean businesses with a space to hold bilateral meetings with the aim of strengthening and diversifying trade relations and cooperation, for the benefit of development and greater integration of Caribbean economies.

The Cuba-Caribbean Business Fair, sponsored by the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power in Santiago de Cuba, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, has among its objectives, to become a facilitator of institutional management. The fair is pursuing the aim of achieving exportable products to replace imports and further develop the territory of the eastern provinces of Cuba.

It is expected that the Secretary General will participate in the official launch of the 16th ExpoCaribe in 2019, following 11 years of interruption. This event will count on the participation of the member states of the Association of Caribbean States, with the purpose of creating a forum to promote trade, investment and the exchange of knowledge among all entrepreneurs in the Greater Caribbean.

In an interview with the Cuban Ambassador at the ACS headquarters before her departure, Dr. Soomer signified the importance of participating in the event and visiting the historic city of Santiago de Cuba.

Also, the Secretary General will complete a program of meetings with senior officials of the government in the province and will visit places of historical interest, among other activities during her visit to Santiago de Cuba.
