Havana, August 28 (RHC)-- The Cuban Foreign Ministry has reported that dozens of banks in the world closed their relations with Cuban or foreign companies in 2018 to eliminate any link with Havana due to the U.S. blockade.

"On a global scale, the persecution of the country's financial transactions has intensified, which is particularly detrimental to the commercial activities of the companies and the links between Cuban and international banks," according to Cuba's Foreign Ministry.

The text of the statement says that banking institutions throughout the world suppressed even operations related to Cuban citizens just because of their nationality.  "At the same time, another group of entities in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia imposed conditions and obstacles to continue operating with Cuban companies and embassies, which have been clients for years."

According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the policy of economic and financial harassment of U.S. President Donald Trump seeks to satisfy his political commitments with the extreme anti-Cuban right of Florida.

"Cuba continues to be unable to access sources of financing from U.S. banks and commercial entities, whose use is practical in world trade," the Foreign Ministry recalled.
