Cuba and Australia hold ministerial meeting

Sydney, October 19 (RHC)-- Authorities from the Cuban Foreign Ministry and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs held official talks in Sydney.

The meeting was presided over by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Marcelino Medina González, and the Deputy Minister for Europe and Latin America at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Christopher Langman.

During the exchange, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in terms of bilateral relations and ratified a common interest in promoting the political dialogue and expanding economic and trade relations. 

The Cuban voiced our nation's interest in fostering exchanges and cooperation in sectors where Australia has achieved experience and outstanding success, particularly energy and mining.

The two sides also reviewed the state of ongoing triangular projects carried out by both nations for the benefit of the Pacific Islands nations. 

As part of his visit to Australia, deputy foreign minister Marcelino Medina is scheduled to hold meetings with Australian Parliament members and other political and government leaders.
