Havana, December 5 (RHC)-- Cuba's 2nd Conference 'Energy, Oil and Gas' began sessions Wednesday in Havana, aimed at reviewing prospects for oil and gas drilling and extraction on the Caribbean island. The event is being attended by executives and representatives from foreign oil and gas firms and service providers.
In his opening remarks, Juan Torres Naranjo, general director of the Cuban entity CUBAPETROLEO, CUPET, pointed to a series of strategies and projects, aimed at increasing production of hydrocarbon resources. High on the meeting's agenda, he said, is the creation of new alliances with foreign investors, in line with opportunities offered by the Cuban sector.
The Cuban official thanked the island's partners, who despite difficulties, U.S. pressures and fluctuations in oil prices on the world market, have maintained their faith in the Cuban oil industry.
