Havana, October 10 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel exchanged with other authorities on economic and social issues of the country, among them, the updating of the prevention and control plan to face COVID-19.

Diaz-Canel reiterated that the rigor and individual, family and community responsibility will allow successful progress in the implementation of this plan beginning on Monday, October 12th.

"The results that we have had in the battle against COVID-19 and the experiences reached have been able to take us to this concept of new normality that has many challenges," the president said.

Díaz-Canel emphasized that the success in the new stage depends on the responsibility with which it is assumed so that it becomes sustainable and a rebound is avoided.  "The most important thing is that there is no confidence, on the contrary, that there is more rigor," he emphasized.

During the meeting, national food production was discussed as a fundamental part of the economic strategy of the country to face the crisis derived from the pandemic and the intensification of the blockade.

In that sense, the Cuban president urged to continue with the transformation of agriculture and to think about the resizing of its business system.  "It is important that they become productive enterprises that guarantee with their own income, from their production, the necessary profits to continue advancing," he explained.

On the other hand, regarding the task of monetary regulation in the country, the president called for the creation of the conditions for the organization and training of the participants and the population.

Diaz-Canel urged that information be given to the people so that the citizens understand the objective of this task and no uncertainties are created.

The president called for the advance in the transformations of the system of commerce, gastronomy and services in search of a better management in that sector, more profitable and far from illegalities.
