Montevideo, December 25 (RHC)--Cuba and Mexico reinforced their ties Thursday with the signing in the Uruguayan capital of the fifth additional protocol to the Economic Complementation Agreement that simplifies the validation process of Certificates of Origin.

Their respective ambassadors, Héctor Fraginals and Víctor Manuel Barceló highlighted the historical ties between the two nations, which date back to 1903, during a virtual ceremony hosted by the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), whose headquarters are in Montevideo.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted that Mexico remains among the first ten commercial partners of Cuba worldwide and is consolidated as the third in the region.

He considered that 'the new instrument will contribute, without a doubt, to reinforce even more our economic and commercial bonds; issue that becomes essential in the current world context.'
