Havana, February 1 (RHC)-- The national director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported on Monday two deaths and 906 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.

Cuba already accumulates 27,592 positive cases and 216 fatalities since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

As of midnight, 13,017 patients were admitted in isolation centers and hospitals with COVID-19 related issues, 5469 were positive cases.

Over the weekend, a new molecular biology in Cienfuegos' central province was added to the national network of such facilities, and now there are 20. Dr. Duran said that these additions expand the island's processing capacity and expedite the time–lapse for the PCR test result.

Havana province remained with the highest number of new cases, 442, followed by Santiago with 144, and Guantanamo with 64.
