Cuba reports 1,044 new cases of COVID-19, 2 deaths

Havana, February 2 (RHC)--Cuba reported 1,044 new cases of COVID-19 infection, two deaths and 1,065 medical discharges in the last 24 hours, according to information given at a press conference by Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

 

For COVID-19, 18 004 PCRs were performed, resulting in 1 044 positive samples. The country accumulates 28 636 positive samples and 218 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.

 

There are 12 017 hospitalized persons, of whom 3 183 are suspected, 3 389 are under surveillance and 5 445 are confirmed.

 

Of the 1044 confirmed cases 980 cases (93.9%) are contacts of confirmed cases.

 

Havana reported 483 of the new cases. Santiago had 165 and Guantanamo 145.
