Sustainable education before Covid-19 at Pedagogy 2021

Havana, February 2 (RHC)-- Representatives of the education sector are discussing this Tuesday innovation and sustainability in the face of Covid-19 during the second day of the International Congress Pedagogy 2021, convened by Cuba.

In the event,  which is being held virtually for the first time, nearly 900 delegates from the island and 27 countries will address these issues through conferences and discussion forums.

Unesco's Assistant Director-General for Education, Stefania Giannini, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Ibero-American States, Mariano Jabonero, are expected to address the event Tuesday.

Also, Ministers of Education from Cuba, Angola, Argentina, China, Ecuador, Venezuela, among others, will share their experiences in the Forum 'Education, innovation and sustainability for integral human development, lessons learned in times of Covid-19'.

Pedagogy 2021 began on Monday and will run until February 3 under the slogan For educators' unity.

During the inauguration, Cuba's Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, emphasized the need to promote media and resources as part of the digital transformation for the teaching process.

She also called for strengthening the commitment to inclusive, equitable, and quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Velázquez ratified the Caribbean nation's will to revolutionize the means of education and explained the island's experience in maintaining teaching despite Covid-19.

In that sense, he mentioned the televised classes for the different educational levels and the creation of the CubaEduca portal, with contents of the school curriculum.
