Havana, June 2 (RHC) – Cuba exported its first 35-cubic-meter lot of gray marble from the Isle of Youth to Venezuela as part of an accord reached between entities of the two countries at the latest Havana International Trade Fair, held here in November.

Deputy economic director of Marmoles Isla enterprise Ali Alderete said in Nueva Gerona, main city in the Isle of Youth, that a similar lot is ready to be shipped to Venezuela. The company?s production quality has been certified with the Cuban ISO standards, said the official.

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the America integration bloc is supporting the initiative, through which, Cuba?s Marble import and export company IMECO will provide marble stones and technical advice to the Venezuelan party in order to exploit the natural resource.

The Cuban marble processing company contributed an extra 435. 47 square meters of marble in the first four months of the year, out of a production schedule of more than 11 thousand meters of that resource.

Company director Jesus Perez told reporters that some of the marble-products include floor and wall tiles, kitchen tops, round and square table tops of different sizes, which are currently being marketed in local retail shops and in the tourist network.
