Havana, April 10 (RHC) -- President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked his country's health experts on Friday for their contribution to the fight against Covid-19 in several countries.

The president met virtually with collaborators of seven brigades that served in other countries and recently returned to their homeland.

The health specialists are part of the Henry Reeve Contingent, founded in 2005 as an initiative of Cuba's historic leader Fidel Castro to provide international assistance in disasters and severe epidemics.

Diaz-Canel spoke with brigades that were deployed in Azerbaijan (118 professionals), Belize (49), Honduras (25), Mexico (255), St. Lucia (10), Venezuela (94), and Anguilla Islands (five),

Given the situation caused by Covid-19, dozens of countries requested Cuba's medical contribution.

In recognition of this collaboration's selfless work, there is a growing international movement in favor of the Henry Reeve contingent brigades receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
