Cuba reports 1880 new COVID-19 infections and 16 deaths

Havana, June 24 (RHC)—Cuban health authorities announced on Thursday 1880 new COVID-19 infections and 16 deaths over the last 24 hours.

In his daily briefing, the National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, said that some of the provinces are applying movement restrictions, actions expected to help curb the surge of the last months. At the same time, the health intervention with the island’s homegrown vaccines continues.

With the current update, Cuba now accumulates 174 789 infections and 1 209 deaths.

In terms of the territories with the most cases, Havana reported 389, Camaguey 272   Matanzas 186, and Santiago de Cuba 144.

As of June 23, Cuba had already surpassed the 5 million shots with its homegrown vaccines totaling 5 113 926 doses, and 940 185 people have been fully vaccinated.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, over the last 7 days, Cuba is vaccinating 1,59 every 100 people, placing the island at the top of the list among nations in this indicator.
