Havana, July 7 (RHC)—Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel condemned the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise, perpetrated in the early hours of Wednesday.
On Twitter, the Cuban head of State deeply regretted the passing of the Haitian President and strongly condemned the violent act that caused his death.
“We send our condolences to relatives and the brother Haitian People. We appeal for peace,” wrote Diaz-Canel.

Jovenel Moïse died in an attack on his private residence on the outskirts of the capital, Port-au-Prince.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that the president's wife, Martine Moise, had died hours later.

Reportedly she was “out of danger” and in stable condition at a hospital in Miami.
