Havana, Jul 23 (RHC) --The month of August will be decisive in Cuba for the confrontation of the Covid-19 pandemic, warned specialists, who urged to continue applying hygienic-sanitary measures while the vaccination process advances.

Suppose we manage to make people understand the need to protect themselves, even after vaccination, while the sanitary intervention continues. In that case, we could reach the end of August or the beginning of September with a better epidemiological situation in our country, said Dr. Raul Guinovart, dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Havana.

However, in the short term, at least until the end of this month, the number of new confirmed cases will continue to grow, the specialist predicted in the television program Mesa Redonda.

He stated that the peak would be at the end of July or at the beginning of August, reaching the figure of 9,500 people diagnosed in one day with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

According to the analyses and forecasts made by a team of specialists and disclosed by Guinovart, 'the greatest impact of the vaccination will be felt in August, which will be decisive,' he reiterated.

He said that the new cases registered each day could drop to about 500, allowing creating conditions to reduce the incidence.

The models indicate that as the vaccination speed increases, there is better control, but it is necessary to consider protection as an essential element to accompany this process.
