The reopening is scheduled for November 15.

Havana, September 27 (RHC)-- The celebration on Monday of World Tourism Day constitutes for Cuba one more reason to reopen the travel industry gradually despite the impact of COVID-19.

On this occasion, the date is focused on inclusive growth.  The representative of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) of the island in Argentina, Janet Ayala, mentions on her Twitter account that for Cuba, it is a message of peace, health and safety.

Such statement is supported by the serious sanitary protocols and a comprehensive vaccination program against the pandemic through products created on the island itself.

The celebrations of this day highlights the strength of tourism for the sake of inclusive growth, when Havana was selected as the venue for the IV Ibero-American Summit on Accessible Tourism scheduled for December 15-19 at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

The Mintur and the Ibero-American Network of Accessible Tourism are inviting, on this date, those responsible for recreational management of destinations, the industry in general and groups of people with disabilities and reduced mobility to participate in the event.

Since 1980, World Tourism Day has been celebrated every September 27 on all continents.   This day was chosen by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) with the aim of uniting and collectively committing to this important sector.

This choice corresponded to the approval of the statutes of this entity on September 27, 1970. The date was established in order to help raise the international community's awareness of the importance of tourism.

This occurred up to the point of the creation of an organization such as the UNWTO with headquarters in Madrid, Spain, on behalf of the United Nations Organization (UNO).

This 2021 has a particular significance, taking into account the impact of the pandemic on the entire planet and the efforts to confront it, due to the fact that tourism represents an important economic source for many nations
