Havana, July 1 (RHC) -– Barcelona Harbor Authorities announced their interest in participating in joint development projects in Cuba, particularly in the logistic field.

The announcement was made during a recent meeting with Cuba’s deputy Foreign Trade and Investment minister Ileana Nunez, who paid a visit to the Barcelona harbor facilities.

The Cuban official traveled to Spain to promote the island’s investment opportunities and the Special Development Zone developing at the Mariel Harbor, some 50 kilometers east of Havana.

On June 26th, representatives of over one hundred Spanish companies were updated in Madrid about investment opportunities in Cuba. On that occasion, the president of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce, Manuel Teruel, stressed the opportunities opening in Cuba for Spanish entrepreneurs.

Over 40 Spanish companies have expressed their interest in the Mariel project, which was approved in late 2013.
