High effectiveness of Cuba's anti-Covid-19 drugs confirmed

Havana, October 6 (RHC)--Research carried out in Cuba shows great impact of vaccines and other drugs developed in the country for the prevention of Covid-19 and the treatment of patients with that disease.

 

According to scientists and specialists from several research centers on the island, these drugs include the injectable immunogen Abdala and the peptide Jusvinza, both created at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB).

 

In a meeting between President Miguel Díaz-Canel and experts participating in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Doctor of Science Pedro Más confirmed that Abdala was 90.9 percent effective four weeks after the start of immunization, and 93.6 percent effective eight weeks after the start of immunization.

 

Based on the results of studies carried out, the vice-president of the Cuban Society of Hygiene and Epidemiology also stated that on the severe form and death, the efficacy of this national vaccine was 92 percent and 90.7 percent, respectively.
