Havana, July 27 (RHC)-- With the aim of expanding ties in health and scientific matters, the governments of Cuba and Belarus signed Wednesday an agreement for the quality control of laboratories of drug and medical device regulatory agencies.

Olga Jacobo, director of the Cuban Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices -Cecmed-, explained that the agreement seeks to guarantee the uniformity of measurements to confirm the reliability of research in Belarusian and Cuban laboratories.

The official also said that the Cuban entity, together with the Belarusian Ministry of Health's Center of Expertise and Tests, will work to support each other methodologically and technically in comparison programs.

He added that the agreement also stipulates the training of specialists based on participation in collaborative study programs.

For his part, the director of the Belarusian health entity, Dmitry Vladimirovich, emphasized that this agreement will have an undetermined duration and will be amended or supplemented by mutual interest of the parties.

He also stressed that with this new agreement Minsk and Havana strengthen scientific cooperation for the benefit of the peoples.

Cuba and Belarus celebrated 30 years of diplomatic relations last April; our country is a significant partner of the European nation in the international arena and one of its most important allies in the Western Hemisphere.
