Havana, August 15 (RHC)-- Cuba's Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz arrived on Monday in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, where he will participate in the first Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), slated for Tuesday.

The meeting is being held in preparation for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), scheduled to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 7 to 18.

COP27 will address progress in implementing the Paris Agreement and since COP26, held in late 2021 in Glasgow.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has 197 States Parties and is the precursor to the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.

The primary objective of the Paris Agreement is to keep the global average temperature increase this century below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to promote more significant efforts to limit it further to 1.5°C.
