Havana, July 30 (RHC) -– French-Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet was granted the distinction of Member of Honor of the Association of Cuban Artists and Writers (UNEAC) on Tuesday.

UNEAC president Miguel Barnet bestowed the distinction upon Ramonet during a ceremony in Havana, in which he said that the recognition entails a sincere tribute to a friend who has always defended noble and fair causes.

The ceremony was attended by Abel Prieto, advisor to Cuban President Raul Castro, and Juan Gonzalez, Culture minister, along other personalities in the field of arts.

Upon receiving the distinction, Ramonet said he felt special affection for Cuba, its Revolution and Fidel Castro. Being a member of honor of the association is a commitment to a whole life of work, said Ramonet, author of the book 'Biography in Two Voices', a long interview with Revolution leader Fidel Castro.

The journalist just launched the Cuban edition of the book 'My First Life', a biography of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.
