Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited the Ernesto Guevara thermoelectric power

Havana, Sept 30 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited the Ernesto Guevara thermoelectric power plant in the nearby city of Santa Cruz del Norte, with three units and a generation capacity of 295 megawatts (MW).

 

According to the government´s official Twitter account, the staff of that power plant is working around the clock to recover the generation of power, which will be part of the synchronization of the national power grid.

 

It also reported that shortly before the arrival of the president, unit number 2 of the station was already contributing 23 megawatts (MW) to part of the system in western Cuba, the region hit by Hurricane Ian.

 

On social media, the president hailed the support of uniformed people in the cleaning of Havana, after the impact of this weather phenomenon on Tuesday.

 

Diaz-Canel thanked chiefs, officers, cadets, soldiers, and fighters of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior, as “indispensable in trying times.”

 

On Wednesday, the Civil Defense decreed the Recovery Phase for the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Havana, Mayabeque, and the special municipality Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth), given Hurricane Ian was far away from the country. (Prensa Latina)
