Havana, Oct 2 (RHC) Cuba's Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) announced Saturday the diagnosis of the fourth case of monkeypox in the country.

The patient is a 26-year-old health worker who lives in the province of Cienfuegos. He was in direct contact with the third case reported in the Caribbean nation.

The MINSAP reported on its website that the patient began to have skin lesions that suggested the presence of the disease. Samples were taken and analyzed by the National Reference Laboratory of the Pedro Kouri Institute (IPK) confirming the diagnosis.

The text specifies that so far, he is evolving favorably and without complications, and adds that being in direct contact with a previous case, the young man was already in strict isolation so that no new persons are declared involved.

The Ministry of Public Health also informed that the contacts linked to the third case of monkeypox remain asymptomatic on the eighth day of surveillance. (Source: PL)
