Act of solidarity with Cuba in Chile for the end of the U.S. blockade

Santiago de Chile, Nov 21 (RHC) The Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in Chile organized this Monday in Santiago de Chile a political-cultural activity, where representatives of various organizations expressed their rejection of the U.S. blockade against our country.

The mayor of the capital commune of Pudahuel, Ítalo Andrés Bravo, one of the speakers, affirmed that this genocidal policy must be eliminated without conditions.

He denounced that Washington intensified the siege against the island despite the situation created by the Covid 19 pandemic, the global crisis, and the effects of hurricanes and tropical storms.

The event, held at the headquarters of the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores, was attended by members of social, youth, trade union, and political organizations, among them the Igualdad party, the Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria, the Frente Patriótico Manuel Rodríguez, and the Partido Comunista Acción Proletarian.

Former Chilean presidential candidate Eduardo Artés highlighted the resistance of the Cuban people who for more than 60 years have been suffering the consequences of the blockade and have not been renounced to advance along the path of socialism.

He recalled that the triumph of January 1, 1959, demolished the whole theory that a revolution was not viable, that is why -he said- we love Cuba so much because it continues to set an example.

Speaking on the occasion, the first secretary of the Cuban embassy in Chile and charge of political affairs, Armando Guerra, pointed out that solidarity with his country has always been very strong and dates back to 1868 when a large group of Chileans went to fight for the island's independence from Spanish colonialism.

The diplomat highlighted the campaign carried out in this country to collect syringes for the vaccination in our country against COVID-19. Guerra informed that the XVII National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Chile will be held in the city of La Serena on November 25 and 26.

Artists such as Pancho Villa, Camila Chascona, and Mónica Viveros enlivened the political and cultural event and performed songs by Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, and Víctor Jara (Source: Prensa Latina).
