Chinese premier receives Cuban party leader

Havana, April 24 (RHC) Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, received today the leader of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Roberto Morales, and both spoke out for consolidating the ties of economic and financial cooperation.

During the meeting, the Asian official ratified the high importance that Beijing attaches to the development of relations with Havana and advocated strengthening pragmatic collaboration to promote socialism and a community with a shared future.

He conveyed President Xi Jinping's greeting to Army General Raúl Castro, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.

Li congratulated the Cuban Head of State for his re-election in office and expressed confidence that Cuba will achieve new and greater successes in building the socialist cause.    He valued Díaz-Canel’s visit to Beijing last November as a reflection of good relations between the two countries, as he was the first leader from Latin America and the Caribbean to travel to China after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party (CPC).

Likewise, the Chinese official ratified that China will continue to support Cuba's struggle for its independence, sovereignty and against the US economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed on the island.

In turn, the member of the Political Bureau and Organization Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party’s Central Committee conveyed greetings from Raúl Castro and Díaz-Canel to Xi and congratulated Li on his election as a member of the Standing Committee of China’s Communist Party’s Political Bureau and Prime Minister from the country.

Morales ratified the excellent state of the ties between the two nations at the political and government level, after expressing support for China's security and global civilization initiatives. He also referred to the intensification of the blockade in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic with 243 measures, including the inclusion on the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, which creates a complex situation for the Caribbean territory.

The meeting with Li began the second day of activities that Morales is completing as part of his visit to China, where he arrived yesterday at the head of a large delegation. Its program includes meetings with authorities of China’s Communist Party, as well as exchanges of experiences on the processes in the construction of socialism.

China is the first stop on an Asian tour of the Cuban leader, which will be another opportunity to raise political dialogue to the highest level and contribute to the continuous development of economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations. (Source: Prensa Latina)
