Havana, September 8 (RHC) – A huge international campaign demanding the release of the three Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in U.S. jails is underway since September 4th in over 30 countries and will run until October 6th, which marks the 38th anniversary of the criminal bombing of a Cuban airliner off the coast of Barbados.

Activists in Washington D.C. will visit U.S. congressional representatives on Capitol Hill regarding the case of the Cuban anti-terrorists and will also stage a vigil in front of the White House demanding freedom for Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and Ramon Labañino, imprisoned since 1998 for having monitored Florida-based terrorist organizations.

Meanwhile, Havana will be the host of the 10th International Colloquium for the Cuban Five and against Terrorism on September 11th and 12th with the participation of some 200 delegates from 49 countries, said Graciela Ramirez, coordinator of the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five.

In Portugal, political leaders and solidarity activists urged the U.S. government to release the Cuban anti-terrorists during a rally at the Avante newspaper in Lisbon. On the occasion, the vice president of the Assembly of the Republic, Antonio Filipe, recalled the significance of exerting international pressure to solve the case.

Rene Gonzalez, who along Fernando Gonzalez returned to Cuba after serving their full prison sentences, said in Lisbon that “we will never renounce our right to keep denouncing the injustice that has been committed.”
