Cubans in Venezuela condemn all acts of terrorism against their country

Caracas, December 15 (RHC)-- The Association of Cuban Residents in Venezuela (Accreven) condemned and rejected all kinds of hateful manifestations that lead today to acts of terrorism inside Cuba, to create chaos, destabilize the government and the people.

"We will defend the achievements and conquests attained by the Cuban Revolution," the solidarity movement assured in a statement circulated here.

Accreven reiterated its commitment with the Cuban people, with the Government, to defend the country in any scenario.

The resistant Cubans in the Bolivarian Republic recalled in their message the "long emancipating struggles" and the countless terrorist attacks against their nation since January 1, 1959.  They mentioned among them the mercenary invasion of Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs) in April 1961; the creation of groups of rebels in the mountains that assassinated peasants, teachers and young literacy teachers; and the sabotage of strategic sectors of the economy.

The Association pointed out that the arsenal of terrorist actions used against Cuba "is wide and varied" and recalled the mid-flight bombing of a Cubana de Aviación plane on October 6, 1976, in which 76 people lost their lives.

They also recalled the attacks on hotel facilities on the island in 1997, in which the young Italian Fabio di Celmo lost his life, in addition to causing significant damage to hotel infrastructures.

ACCREVEN referred to terrorist actions aimed at damaging the health of the Cuban people, such as that suffered in 1981 with the epidemic of dengue and hemorrhagic dengue, which caused the death of 101 children and 57 adults, and the epidemic outbreak of hemorrhagic conjunctivitis that affected the whole country.

With the arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump (2017-2021), it stressed, the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States more than 60 years ago was intensified.

ACCREVEN remarked that this criminal policy "goes against the Charter of the United Nations" and they considered it illegal as it violates the international legal framework, by attacking the sovereignty and integrity of the Cuban people and constituting "one more form of State terrorism."

The National Board of Directors of ACCREVEN denounced that "unscrupulous anti-Cuban groups, with close ties to the Miami mafia", who are been protected and financed by the US Government, are taking advantage of the current situation on the island "to organize and incite violence and disobedience".  (Source: PL)
