European and Cuban businessmen advocate for greater ties

Havana, January 18 (RHC) The vice president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Tania Aguiar, addressed this Thursday at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in Brussels, the links between the Cuban and the European business community and the potential to expand them.

At the headquarters of that advisory body, Aguiar, accompanied by Yaira Jiménez, Cuban ambassador to Belgium and to the European Union (EU), was received by the president of the EESC Business Group, Stefano Mallia. Both parties analyzed relations described by diplomatic sources as beneficial.

In addition to the potential to develop ties, the parties recognized the framework represented in this sense by the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement that Cuba and the EU signed in 2016.

Aguiar shared with the members of the EESC Monitoring Committee for Latin America, aspects of updating the island's socioeconomic model and its facilities for foreign investment.

Meanwhile, the hosts were interested in the role of the private sector in the Cuban economy, expressed through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The vice president of the CCC carried out an extensive agenda in Brussels, which has allowed her to exchange criteria with business associations from various Belgian regions. Her visit has also made it possible to promote this year's edition of the traditional Havana International Fair. (Source: PL)
