Cuba mourns death of Namibian President Hage G. Geingob

Havana, February 4 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today expressed deep sorrow over the death of his Namibian counterpart, Hage G. Geingob, whom he described as a dear friend of his country.

Through the social network X, the Cuban leader said he will always remember Geingob's warm welcome during his visit to the sister nation and what the African leader did in favor of the historic brotherly relations between the two peoples.


Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also expressed his deep sorrow for the news and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Geingob's people, family and friends.

We will never forget this great friend of Cuba, he said in his profile on that social network.

The Namibian president died today at 00:04 hours (local time) at the Lady Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek, where he was receiving medical treatment.

Hage Gottfried Geingob was born in Grootfontein on August 3, 1941. He was 82 years old at the time of his death   (Source: Prensa Latina).
