Havana, August 13 (RHC / ACN)-- From Santiago de Cuba, where the ashes of the Commander in Chief rest, Birán, the land where he was born, the capital of all Cubans, and in multiple places throughout the geography of the Island, Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Revolution, is remembered today.

On the 98th anniversary of Fidel's birth, in the Center that bears his name, there will be several moments of tribute throughout the day.

The Villena Hall of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), at 11:00 a.m., will present the texts "Fidel Castro: The art of governing," by Yunet López Ricard, with a prologue by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and "Communion of Ideas: Eusebio Leal -- A son of his time," by the writer Abel Enrique González Santamaría.

According to a press release sent to ACN, the initiative, sponsored by the Historical-Social Literature Section of the UNEAC Writers Association, will promote an approach to two important texts conceived in recent years, whose pages safeguard for all times essential moments of the country's history.

At the same time, at the National Theater and under the name "Fidel is Cuba," a cantata will be offered by the Mariana de Gonitch Singing Academy and its professional company Las Voces, directed by Professor Hugo Oslé, and at three in the afternoon, at the Fayad Jamís bookstore, a book related to the Commander in Chief and the Ibero-American Summits will be offered to the public.

Last night, a concert took place at the Piragua in Havana to celebrate International Youth Day.  It also served as the welcoming for Cuban athletes from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and from there they waited for August 13th to pay tribute to Fidel.

Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, is recognized throughout the world for his humanitarian, anti-imperialist and solidarity work. His work transcends and his legacy is an example for generations.
