Havana Residents and Visitors Enjoy British Cinema

Havana, October 14 (RHC-AIN), The 3rd British Culture Festival will begin on Tuesday with the screening of the film La mujer invisible, at the 23 y 12 movie theater in Havana's El Vedado neighborhood.

The cycle, which will end on October 18, will also include the film Philomena, by Stephen Frears, which tells the real story of Philomena Lee and the search for her son for 50 years. It was premiered in August, 2013, and won the prize to the best script in the Venice Film Festival that year. The Selfish Giant, based on the homonymous short story by Oscar Wilde and directed by Clio Barnard will be another of the suggestions for seventh art lovers during this audiovisual program.

The short Circulos rotos, by students of the Faculty of Art of Audiovisual Media, will be shown at the Fresa y Chocolate cultural center, which calls for respect for sexual diversity.

Also presented during the Festival will be the documentaries "El Impostor" and "Sueños de una Vida," directed by English artists Bart Layton and Carol, respectively.

In addition to screenings, the Festival also includes exhibitions, theater and lectures among other activities, scheduled for October 9-19, to strengthen cultural bonds between the United Kingdom and Cuba.
