Morales and Valente discussed joint issues and emphasized the role of Cuba in promoting unity

Havana, Nov 14 (RHC) The Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda, this Wednesday welcomed the Executive Secretary of the Sao Paulo Forum (FSP), Monica Valente, who is on a working visit to Cuba.

Morales expressed gratitude for her presence in the country at this challenging time. He also thanked the Forum for supporting Cuba in its fight against the US economic embargo and for denouncing its arbitrary inclusion in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Both officials discussed joint issues and emphasized the role of Cuba in promoting unity, which according to Morales, is a crucial factor in facing future challenges.

The Communist Party of Cuba is a founding member of the Sao Paulo Forum, an organization that emerged in 1990 as an initiative of Commander Fidel Castro Ruz and Brazilian leader Luis Inacio Lula da Silva. The Workers' Party of Brazil (PT) and Lula convened the founding meeting in Sao Paulo from July 2 to 4, 1990.

The FSP's priorities are the promotion of the unity and integration of the leftist political forces on the continent in the anti-imperialist struggle, as well as the defense of peace as a common goal for Our America, which is currently being materialized with the support of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, approved at the 2nd CELAC Summit in Havana in 2014.
