Thousands of Cubans Enjoy Book Fair in Havana

Havana, February 16 (RHC)-- Over the past three days, more than 75,300 people visited the 24th International Book Fair in Havana at La Cabaña Fortress and other venues in Havana's El Vedado neighborhood. And, according to reports, some 64,640 books have been sold so far.

The Book Fair welcomes the presentation on Monday of “Julio Cortázar: A Biography” by Mario Goloboff at La Cabaña Fortress and the colloquium “Cervantine Advantures in Latin America and the Caribbean” at the University of Havana.

Prominent Cuban intellectual and teacher, Eduardo Heras Leon, received the National Literature Prize 2014 on Sunday at a ceremony presided over by Cuba's First Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Over the weekend, Juan Valdés Paz received the National Social Sciences and Humanities Award and Ramón Labañino presented his book of poetry entitled “Gaviotas Blancas” (White Seagulls).
