Moscow, Mar 30, (RHC), – Cuban ambassador to Russia Emilio Lozada said in Moscow that Cuba is interested in taking economic and academic collaboration relations with Russia to the levels of the Soviet Era.

The diplomat´s statements were stressed by the NSK 49 TV channel in the city of Novosibirsk during the visit there by Doctor Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, scientific advisor to the Cuban Council of State.

According to NSK 49, Doctor Castro Diaz-Balart, a nuclear physicist who has been granted the Honoris Causa title by different Russian universities, referred to plans to further expand relations with academic institutions, including the Novosibirsk Scientific Center.

During a recent visit to Cuba, the president of the International Relations Committee at the Russian Senate, Igor Kosachov, said that one of the concrete points on the bilateral collaboration agenda is the return to Russia of Cuban students to take different courses.

Kosachov reiterated Moscow´s interest in contributing to the training of future professionals either in post-graduate courses, trainings or masters degrees.

With this objective in mind, the Russian lawmaker traveled to Cuba with a delegation made up of representatives of Moscow´s Lomonosov State University, the University of Friendship with the Peoples and Moscow´s State Technological University, among other institutions.

Kosachov said that Moscow has a renewed vision of its relations with Cuba and in tune with this, they have count on the appropriate mechanism, which is the Joint Intergovernmental Economic, Commercial and Scientific Commission.

The 14th session of that commission will take place April 22 in Kazan, with good prospects for bilateral commercial and cooperation relations, he said.
