Madrid, October 15 (RHC-PL) -- The Spanish town of El Bonillo, Albacete, opened its street 'Republic of Cuba' in honor of the Day of Cuban Culture -- which is commemorated on October 20th -- and the 4th Centenary of the edition of the second part of the Quixote.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Council of Albacete, Santiago Cabañero; the Mayor of El Bonillo Juan Gil; Albacete's Deputy Raquel Ruiz and Cuba's Ambassador in Spain, Eugenio Martínez.

At the City Hall, the Cuban diplomat presented a recognition to Mayor Gil sent by Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture Fernando Rojas, for his contribution to the international promotion of Cuban culture through solidarity and respect.

During the event, Carmen Suárez León, Ph.D., a researcher at the José Martí Studies Center of Cuba, gave a talk on the social utopia, the link among José Martí, Cuba's National Hero, Don Quixote and its author Miguel de Cervantes.

This center and the Embassy of Cuba also gave a donation of texts on Martí to the library of the House of Culture of El Bonillo, where works by Cuban artists were also presented.
