Tehran, October 29 (RHC)-- The government of Iran has expressed a willingness to offer scholarships to Cubans interested in learning Farsi, considered the most widely spoken Persian language.

According to a news release issued by the Cuban embassy in Tehran, the proposal first emerged during a meeting between Cuban ambassador to the Arab country Vladímir González and the advisor to Iranian Minister for Science, Research and Technology Salar Amoli.

During the exchange, the two sides termed as excellent the current state of bilateral political and diplomatic relations, and in that context, agreed to strengthen academic cooperation.

The Cuban ambassador took the opportunity to thank Iran for its vote earlier this week at the UN General Assembly in favor of the UN resolution that demands the lifting of the U.S. blockade of Cuba and termed as eloquent and appropriate the speech delivered by the Iranian ambassador, who spoke on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.
