Havana, November 2 (RHC)-- Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, scientific advisor of Cuba's Council of State, said that his recent visit to Beijing was highly positive to further advance bilateral scientific exchange with China.

The Cuban official said that both countries enjoy high-level links in technological cooperation at times when the two countries are implementing political processes aimed at boosting economic growth based on innovation and creative action.

Diaz-Balart said that all his meetings with Chinese officials counted on the bilateral interest and commitment by the two governments, state entities and scientific institutions to increase collaboration in sciences, and particularly in nano-technology.

Cuba has turned to nano-sciences and nano-technology as strategic areas for scientific and entrepreneurial development amid the economic changes boosted by the Cuban government. The scientist noted that Cuba considers as a strategy for 2015-2020 the creation of a national nano-technology program to join leading nations in the Latin American region, particularly in the sector of nano-biotechnology.

Castro Diaz-Balart paid a visit to Beijing during the last week of October and toured high-level scientific entities including China's Nano-Science and Nano-Technology Center and the National Meteorology Institute.
