Cuba and Chile Strengthen Commercial Promotion Ties

Havana, November 6 (RHC)-- The Foreign Trade Promotion Agencies of Cuba and Chile signed on Tuesday an agreement to foster institutional cooperation and the development of economic relations between both Latin American nations.

Celebrating Chile Day at the 33rd International Trade Fair in Havana, Roberto Paiva and Roberto Verrier, Directors of ProChile and ProCuba respectively signed a cooperation agreement that ratifies the mutual interest of pushing forward commercial exchange.

The Director of ProChile expressed in representation of the his country´s Foreign Ministry, their intention of bringing more South American business executives to Cuba and vice versa in important activities like professional services and technicians and investment.

Regarding the current partial trade accord of both countries, the Chilean official said that it is an instrument that has allowed the entrance of products in the two markets for several years in favorable conditions because the majority is free of tariffs.

Roberto Lopez, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment emphasized in the enormous working potential in other sectors like steel and biotechnology where bilateral exchanges can be strengthened.

He reiterated the importance given by Cuba of Chile's presence in the trade fair and on this occasion with over 30 companies present in ExpoCuba site of FIHAV 2015.

During the second day of Cuba's most important commercial event, the presentation of the 2015 Business Portfolio was held that includes 326 projects directed in attracting foreign investment in 12 key sectors of the national economy.

In addition, the event celebrated National Days of Mexico, Canada and Britain, three of the island's main trading partners in the world and heading the list of vacationers to the Caribbean island.
