Hanoi, November 16 (RHC)-- Cuba and Vietnam opened the 33rd Session of their Joint Intergovernmental Commission to continue strengthening bilateral economic and commercial relations.

The four-day session is being presided over by Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca. On the Vietnamese side is Construction Minister Trinh Binh Dung.

In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, Cuban Ambassador Herminio Lopez said that the session is analyzing the pace of the bilateral agenda agreed upon during the visit to Cuba last year by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The agenda includes a series of bilateral cooperation projects.

Cuba and Vietnam signed several documents following the visit to Havana by President Truong Tan Sang in September, including the areas of finances to fund investment, the setting up of a joint venture to build a five-star hotel, and cooperation actions in oil drilling in Cuba.

During the recent Havana International Trade Fair, Vietnamese and Cuban companies reached deals amounting to nearly two million dollars.
