Havana, December 23 (RHC)-- The Cuban Foreign Ministry is today marking its 56th anniversary with the commitment to tirelessly defend just causes and interests of countries of the South.

The founding of the Foreign Ministry, MINREX, under the leadership of Fidel Castro, responded to conditions during the initial years of the Cuban Revolution. MINREX boasts high international recognition, authority, prestige and strong support.

Cuba embraces the basic principles of International Law, among them respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of each and every State; national self-determination, and rejection of interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

The pillars of Cuban foreign policy are internationalism, anti-imperialism, solidarity and the unity of Third World countries, according to a news release by the Foreign Ministry. Cuba condemns all supremacy-oriented and discriminatory practices in international relations, as well as the threat or the use of force, the adoption of unilateral coercive measures, all forms of aggression and any form of terrorism, including state terrorism.
