Havana, April 21 (RHC)-- Members of a visiting delegation from the U.S. President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities have expressed their interest in fostering cultural cooperation between the United States and Cuba.

In statements to reporters here in Havana, David Skorton, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institute of the United States said that one of the reasons he was here in Cuba was because the Institute he represents is interested in cooperating with Cuba.

Skorton explained that each year the institute organizes in a meeting called Folklife Festival in Washington D.C.. He said that they want to take Cuba as a guest country to the Folklife Festival in 2017.

On Wednesday, the visiting delegation from the U.S. President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities toured the Havana-based National Fine Arts Museum and the headquarters of the Litz Alfonso dance company.
