Havana, July 11 (RHC)--Student leaders from Latin America will meet in a month in Havana to celebrate the 50th birthday of OCLAE, Continental Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Students.
OCLAE president Heidy Villuendas Ortega told reporters in Havana that during the ocassion they will be holding a Latin American and Caribbean Students' Anti-imperialist Encounter, during which the founding principles of OCLAE--unity, solidarity, belligerence to oligarchies, and the struggle for free and quality public education—will be highlighted.
He said that the meeting, which will be held from the 11th until the 13th of next month, will be attended by over one hundred delegates and a broad representation of the University Students Federation and the Federation of Students of Intermediate Education of Cuba, among other youths from the region who are studying in the Caribbean nation.
The student leader noted that the meeting will be devoted to the 90th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, and will serve to recognize Cuba for being the permanent headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of the organization.
