It's the Lone Ranger. Hey! Where's Tonto?

Some may still remember when the out-going President of the United States, Donald Trump, reluctantly agreed to wear a mask to protect himself from COVID-19 and said he felt like "The Lone Ranger," a fictional TV character from the old American West.

The White House chief’s troublesome exit prompted sour comments and comes to mind because, even if the eccentric mogul is not an incognito cowboy, the truth is that he must be feeling very lonely at this time.

First of all, he became the only president in the history of that country to be impeached twice during a four-year term, a mark that will possibly remain unbeaten for a long time.

The outcome of that process is still uncertain, since it’s taking place when the Republican Party is on the verge of a split and its representatives in Congress have yet to choose between abiding by the Constitution, or upholding a questionable loyalty, if not to their fellow party member, at least to political formalities.

The impeachment will not end before January 20, so it will not result in Trump’s removal from office.  But if he is convicted, he will be unable to run for office in 2024, which is apparently what the Democrats want.

Numerous members of his cabinet and other high officials have also decided to step away from the head of state, due to the brutal Capitol riot on January 6th.

Even the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. armed forces dissociated themselves from their Supreme Commander-in-Chief and sent a letter to more than 1.3 million troops condemning the violent riot in Washington, DC.

Before that, 10 former Secretaries of Defense issued a statement rejecting the fact that the army could be used to change the results of the November 3rd elections.

In the House of Representatives, Republican legislator Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney -- an extreme right-wing political figure -- said: "There has never been a greater betrayal by a president of the U.S. of his office and his oath to the Constitution.”

Several media companies, which for years accepted Trump's impudence and served as his worldwide sounding board, suddenly "discovered" his faults and closed his social network accounts.

Deutsche Bank, the main financier of the president's businesses, stated that all associations with him were canceled, and other companies also supported and followed this decision.

A lonely farewell for The Lone Ranger -- who dedicated himself to dividing, discriminating, insulting, punishing and despising others, but whose legacy, like a malignant tumor, will continue to weaken the resilience of that world power.

Hi-yo, Silver! Only 4 more days, and The Orange Menance is history. Better check the White House Silverware and make sure it's all still there!
