Neither the vaccination process, through which 87 percent of Cubans received three doses of Abdala or Soberana, nor the affirmation that Omicron is more contagious, but less lethal, should arouse the belief that in this Caribbean nation the pandemic has passed.

Overconfidence may lead to more complex situations than the current one, when Cuba faces a new wave of COVID-19 cases.

After reducing to less than a hundred infections per day, the Caribbean country has surpassed the two thousand barrier, when mathematical experts and other areas of knowledge predict the sustainability of the trend.

This is happening while the nation continues to open its borders and essential economic activities, essential to achieve the desired development, and to overcome many of the daily difficulties, such as the insufficient supply in commercial establishments.

It is also vital to continue with the school year, affected by previous compulsory confinements due to the rise of the COVID-19, although at that time, Cuba did not have the primacy of having immunization.

At that point of the analysis is where the dangerous face of overconfidence appears, as it happened at the end of the year 2021, when some Cubans mistakenly believed that the circumstances were favorable for the holiday without bridles.

Adequately, the authorities have adopted additional hygienic-sanitary provisions both internally and for the reception of visitors through ports, airports and customs, with a view to mitigate the possibilities of the omicron variant, and others, causing more confusing scenarios.

Not by chance, the Ministry of Public Health instructed to concentrate on primary care, in order to achieve a good home admission of people diagnosed positive.

The allies of Cubans continue to be the mask, timely disinfection, physical distancing, moderation of contacts between individuals and going outside the home only for justified work, study or personal reasons.

Restraint, not overestimating the prerogatives available and being attentive to the information and warnings of scientists and health corps are vital in the face of a new outbreak of the undesirable respiratory adversary.
