President Díaz Canel's visit to Mexico was an opportunity to further strengthen the ties between the two nations

The great friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Mexico was demonstrated once again during the visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel to Mexican territory to attend the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum as president of the Latin American country.

The Cuban president developed an intense agenda in the sister nation, where he received a warm welcome from the authorities and citizens. Cuba, Cuba, Cuba is a cry that can be heard in the streets of Mexico City these days.

The two peoples are closely linked. In the past, their paths converged in the search for independence, progress and social justice, and they continue to forge a history of solidarity and brotherhood.

Mexico has always been a special friend to Cubans, who remember that it was the only country in Latin America and the Caribbean that did not break off relations with revolutionary Cuba when it was expelled from the OAS, the Organization of American States, under pressure from the United States.

Under the mandate of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, bilateral relations were strengthened and reached a high level.

Solidarity has been mutual. Mexico has always been at the side of the Greater Antilles in its struggle against the US blockade and has repeatedly denounced its inclusion in the arbitrary US list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

Mexico emphasizes his support for the Cuban people to counteract the effects of Washington's coercive measures, which impede the socio-economic progress of the Caribbean country and have caused losses of more than five billion dollars between March 2023 and February of this year, and as Díaz Canel expressed, in response to the constant gestures of solidarity from the Mexicans, Cuban health workers have arrived in these countries.

At present, more than 3,000 Cuban professionals are working in 23 Mexican states, and their performance has been considered highly satisfactory by the authorities.

President Díaz Canel's visit to Mexico was an opportunity to further strengthen the ties between the two nations, whose friendship has withstood the passage of time and numerous pressures.
