Israel continues bombing despite ceasefire agreement

By: Guillermo Alvarado

The international community received with great enthusiasm the news of the ceasefire agreement signed between the Zionist State of Israel and the Hamas organization, which could mean the end of the Palestinian genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Some analysts call this fact "fragile" because of Tel Aviv's expressed will to appropriate this territory and fill it with Jewish settlers, as is happening in the West Bank, where the theft of the Palestinian population's land continues unabated.

On the one hand, there is Israel's record, which is characterized by the fact that it frequently violates its commitments, free of charge, with the support and complicity of the Western powers, as has been demonstrated in the last 15 months.

Not only does it violate its commitments, but it also flagrantly violates the guarantees enshrined in international treaties for cases of warlike confrontation, including the protection of civilians, hospitals and health centers, and the disproportionate use of force, in addition to causing extreme suffering to its victims.

In fact, after the announcement of the agreement, the aerial bombardments and ground attacks on the already devastated Strip continued, causing 71 deaths and about 200 wounded, that is, the carnage continues.

The lack of will of the Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is looking for pretexts to create an unexpected crisis and to throw away the end of the hostilities, also plays a role.

Although the compromise includes the withdrawal of Israeli troops to a strip of land near the Gaza Strip, the Israeli leader has repeatedly stated that he will maintain the military occupation of this enclave and grant himself administrative functions.

It should be noted that the agreement reached is limited to a cease-fire, but is by no means a firm and lasting peace treaty, which opens the door to future incursions under any pretext.

Of course, the West will press for everything to be implemented, not for humanitarian reasons, but because the compromise includes in its second stage the reconstruction of what was destroyed in Gaza, which is almost everything, and this, let us not forget, is a very good business for the real estate consortia that are eagerly awaiting their opportunity.
